Understanding Saturation Pressures for UK Engineers

Every refrigeration and AC engineer needs to understand the relationship between refrigerant pressure and temperature. Saturation data is essential for diagnosing faults, setting superheat and subcooling, and verifying correct refrigerant charge.

R32 Key Saturation Pressures (Approximate)

• 0°C evaporating: ~7.2 bar gauge
• +10°C evaporating: ~9.1 bar gauge
• +45°C condensing: ~26.0 bar gauge
• +55°C condensing: ~31.5 bar gauge

Use an R32-specific PT chart or refrigerant app for full data. Standard R410A manifolds are generally compatible with R32.

R410A Key Saturation Pressures (Approximate)

• 0°C evaporating: ~7.9 bar gauge
• -10°C evaporating: ~6.0 bar gauge
• +45°C condensing: ~25.5 bar gauge

High-pressure-rated gauge sets are required for R410A.

R404A Key Saturation Pressures (Approximate)

• -30°C evaporating: ~1.2 bar gauge
• -20°C evaporating: ~2.4 bar gauge
• -10°C evaporating: ~4.0 bar gauge
• +40°C condensing: ~17.5 bar gauge
