Storing refrigerant correctly protects your stock, your premises and the people around it. Pressurised cylinders deserve respect, and good storage is also part of F-Gas compliance and safety.
Where to store
- A cool, dry, well-ventilated area, out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources
- Below the maximum temperature marked on the cylinder
- Away from corrosive substances and ignition sources (especially for A2L and A3 flammable refrigerants)
How to store
- Keep cylinders upright and secured so they can’t fall or roll
- Fit valve caps and keep valves closed when not in use
- Separate full and empty cylinders, and clearly label recovery cylinders
- Don’t stack cylinders unsafely
Stock management
Rotate stock so older cylinders are used first, check test dates, and keep records. For flammable refrigerants, follow the specific storage quantity and ventilation requirements.
